(tak) siuman island

i heard something on the radio which is both striking and insanely idiotic, not to mention very, very unfair.

the thing was: 18 million pounds just to play soccer.

that's like 18...32...64 -- S$64 million! imagine that!

now, i know many out there would like to disagree with my using of the word 'just'. but if you sit down and take you time to think about it -- to really think about it, you will find that the money given really isn't worth the activity. the bloody guy'll be retiring in his early thirties and as would any business man would agree, that's a really bad investment.

it's not like golf or tennis where the player earns his money by winning tournaments, which i think is a really deserving reward system. but paying the bloke 18 million pounds just to kick a ball around? fucking rip-off, i'd say.

but i guess it's the same for everything else. say, a painting of van gough's which now fetch for about US$16 million (or probably more) or an "actor" which makes roughly about 10 times as much as the painting and is now the governor of california.

uber unfairness.

on a final note: a poem

darn it haze!

blocking my gaze.

i'll graze

you with mace!

So says one completely ignorant of the difficulties faced by professional football players. Beautiful plays by people like Crouch and Ballack are worth the thousands of pounds. Besides, after they reach their prime they'll need the cash.
